A notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday, January 16. According to the notification, the committee has been formed as per the instructions of the Chief Adviser’s Office to re-evaluate the Press Accreditation Policy 2022. President’s Press Secretary Sarwar Alam has been made the convener of the committee, while Mohammad Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan, Deputy Principal Information Officer of the Department of Information, has been made member secretary.
The committee members include Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Kausar Ahammed, Additional Secretary of the Public Security Division Ataur Rahman Khan, Principal Information Officer of the Department of Information Nizamul Kabir, Director General of the Department of Films and Publications Khaleda Begum, Deputy Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser’s Office Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahmed, BFUJ Acting President Obaidur Rahman Shahin, DUJ President Shahidul Islam, Dhaka Reporters Unity President Abu Saleh Akon, Economic Reporters Forum President Doulot Akter Mala, Broadcast Journalist Center trustee Elias Hossain, BJIM founding convener Shikder Abir Mahmud Sam Jahan, DICAB and BSRF member Mustafizur Rahman, Reporters Without Borders Bangladesh correspondent Salim Samad, and Bangladesh Photojournalists Association President Indrajit Kumar Ghosh.
The terms of reference state that the committee will review the Press Accreditation Policy 2022 and make recommendations for necessary additions, amendments and revisions. The committee will submit its report to the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting by February 10.
