Calling on people to stay away from extortion and land grabbing, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said, “Please do not do this. The souls of our martyrs will suffer, and humanity will be insulted and humiliated.” He made the call while speaking as the chief guest at a workers’ conference held around 11:30am on Saturday at the Haji Muhammad Mohsin Government High School ground, the historic Madrasa Maidan, in Rajshahi city.
Shafiqur Rahman said, “Rajshahi is an education city. I hope that after the 5th, there has been no extortion in Rajshahi. The people here are gentle, humble and honest; no one engages in extortion. Isn’t that right?” In response, the workers shouted, “They do, they do engage in extortion.” He again urged everyone to move away from extortion and land grabbing, saying such activities would hurt the souls of martyrs and disgrace humanity.
