Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has demanded a ban on “underground politics” or secret student politics in all educational institutions across the country. The organization said that underground politics has no practical reality in Bangladesh anymore. If any student organization is still involved in such activities, it will be considered as being engaged in another major conspiracy like 1971.
Leaders made the remarks on Saturday afternoon at the Central Shaheed Minar during a rally following the organization’s “March for Justice” programme. Chhatra Dal organized the programme demanding proper trial of terrorist activities allegedly committed by Chhatra League in educational institutions during the rule of Sheikh Hasina, ensuring punishment of the offenders, and taking appropriate action after investigation against those who acted as collaborators of fascism during the mass uprising of students and citizens.
The rally was presided over by Chhatra Dal president Rakibul Islam. He said, “From today’s programme, we formally demand a ban on underground politics in all educational institutions of Bangladesh.”
