On Friday (10 January), the members of the Shariatpur Journalists Association elected a new executive committee through direct voting at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) office in Paltan, Dhaka. Habibur Rahman Palash defeated his nearest rival, Raju Alim of Channel i, to become President, while Obaidullah Mamun defeated Mohiuddin Tushar to be elected General Secretary.

The other elected office bearers include Vice Presidents Monir Hossain (Naya Diganta), Shahadat Hossain Shahin (Ganomukti), Ferdous Rahman Rupok (Ganomukti), Borhan Uddin (Arthakantha), and Md. Khalilur Rahman (Janakantha). The Joint General Secretaries are Md. Mahbub Hossain (Daily Sun) and Moazzem Hossain Bipul (Asian TV).

Monir Hossain Topu (ATN Bangla) was elected Organizing Secretary. The Assistant Organizing Secretaries are Md. Faisal Ahmed (DBC) and Adnan Hadi (Trending News). Mahmudul Hasan (Kalbela) was elected Office Secretary, Jubayer Ahmad (News Twenty Four) Information Technology Secretary, Md. Ali Mobin (Channel S) Social Welfare Secretary, Jafar Ahmed (Kalbela) Publicity and Publications Secretary, Md. Rajibul Islam (Dhaka Journal) Sports and Cultural Secretary, Emrul Hasan Bappi (The Daily Star) Legal Affairs Secretary, and Pritika Islam (News Twenty Four) Women Affairs Secretary.

In addition, several members were elected to the Executive Committee.
